On Tuesday, February 4, The Avenue will learn about and listen to the music of hope and faith that has grown from the Black church. Members of The Atlanta African American Music Society (TAAMS) will share their musical talents and knowledge of how Spirituals and Gospel music grew from the black experience and have contributed to the development of blues, jazz and other music that has become part of American life and culture. Vernay Dabney, who has been an integral member of the NAPC chancel choir for more than 20 years, will moderate the panel of esteemed artists and music educators, who will not only share their knowledge but also perform examples of this inspirational music.
